Hi, I'm trying to set up the optimal Canon XH-A1 preset for use with (own CS2 and CS3) that will give me the least amount of trouble potentially and also offer the greatest degree of compatibility when editing with HDV material. When I start a new project on Pro 2 or 3,I want to be able to select the best & most suitable 'preset'(combination of settings) when launching the application! Rightly or wrongly,when I called Canon tech support,they told me that it was preferable & their reccomendation was to shoot in the 60i mode over the 30F mode.So,that being said.what's the difference between the two and what are your thoughts in regards to that? Are you saying that 60i should not be used with the A1 because its highest res is 1440x1080i? Yes,I currently may be 'clueless' to some extent but not forever as it just a matter of time when things are worked out and resolved.

Optionally you can use Cineform Aspect HD for more resolution independence. The camera is versatile but normal mode is HDV format 1440x1080i 29.97fps (aka 60i). CS3 is all set up for editing this format natively. Optional modes 30F or 24F are used for special purposes. In those modes both fields are taken from the same frame clock where 60i gives double the motion increments taking each field at double frame rate 59.94.
